Film Formula: Crafting Movies That Resonate
We have a 25 point film formula. We want to make all of our films based on this film formula. We cant tell you the whole film formula for privacy reasons but we would like to tell you three points of it just so you can understand what it is and get a sense of the types of films that we want to make.
1) The Rollercoaster Experience
A compelling film isn't just about a good story—it should evoke a range of emotions. It should make you laugh, cry, and inspire you, and it should leave you feeling satisfied by the end. If it's a thriller, it should keep you on the edge of your seat. A well-crafted film takes viewers on an emotional "ride" they won't forget.
Take E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, for example. It balances humor, heartache, and suspense, culminating in a joyful and fulfilling conclusion.
2) Appropriate Film Classification: PG-13 or Lower
While exceptions exist, we aim to create films rated PG-13 or below. These ratings typically perform better at the box office, as they allow a wider audience—including teenagers and children—to attend. For instance, Top Gun: Maverick was rated PG-13 and grossed over $1.4 billion globally. Had it been rated R, many potential viewers would have been excluded.
3) Featuring a Memorable Character
Iconic characters often drive a film's success. Whether it's a robot, alien, animal, or a unique human being, these characters capture the audience's imagination. Think of Jurassic Park with its dinosaurs, or Oppenheimer, centered on a brilliant scientist. Even beloved figures like Mickey Mouse have left a lasting impact. Including a standout character can significantly enhance a film's appeal.
